  • Product description

Our PaintNuts Colour Matched Aerosol & Grey Primer Kit is designed for the thorough repair of damaged paint work.

This handy kit helps you complete the perfect repair, from start to finish.

1 PaintNuts - Grey Primer aerosol

PaintNuts Primer provides strong surface adhesion on metal providing an anti-corrosive smooth covering – the perfect base layer for our colour matched aerosol paints.

It has a precision spray nozzle so you can spray either horizontally or vertically and achieve superior results.

2 PaintNuts - Colour Matched aerosol

PaintNuts colour matched aerosol paints come with a precision spray nozzle and adjustable pan spray pattern which achieves an even spread and body shop quality finish.

The 400ml aerosol is just the job for big or bodywork repairs or customisations - ideal for dent repairs, wing mirrors and bumpers.

Please note – aerosols should not be applied in cold, damp weather – it will adversely affect the application and finish.

The recommended minimum temperature for using spray paint is 15+ degrees, preferably indoors in a warm and well-ventilated area.

  • Directions for use

STEP ONE - PaintNuts - Grey Primer Aerosol

    • Mixing - Shake aerosol thoroughly for at least 1 minute to ensure the primer is mixed correctly.
    • Preparation - The surface must be clean and dry - make sure all wax, polish and dust is removed. If rust is present we suggest a rust treatment as well.
    • Application - Apply in cross coats from a distance of 25cm from the object, ensuring you only apply the primer within the intended area. Leave the primer to dry for 10-25 minutes before applying a second coat if required. Leave the primer to cure for 2 hours before applying the colour matched paint.

STEP TWO - PaintNuts - Colour Matched Aerosol

    • Mixing & Colour Check - Shake the Paint Pen for at least 3 Minutes to ensure the paint is thoroughly mixed correctly (if your paint is a Metallic Paint, you may notice the paint has separated within the bottle, this paint will need a vigourous shake, then test in a discreet area to check the colour match leaving the paint to dry for 10 minutes – paints will often appear different in colour inside the bottle, when wet or if applied incorrectly.
    • Preparation - The surface must be clean and dry - make sure all wax, polish and dust is removed.
    • Application - Using either the metal nib/pen or brush apply thin, light coats in smooth strokes; if you’re using the needle point pen allow the nib to sit inside the scratch or chip and squeeze gently ensuring you only apply the paint within the damaged area. Do Not apply new paint on top of existing paint as this will leave the area of repair looking lighter or darker. Leave the colour matched paint to dry for upto 30 mins before applying any further coats, if no further coat is required, then leave to cure for 1 full hour before applying the PaintNuts Clear Lacquer.

PLEASE NOTE: – Aerosols should not be applied in cold, damp weather – it will adversely affect the application and finish.

The recommended minimum temperature for using spray paint is 15+ degrees, preferably indoors in a warm and well-ventilated area.

How To Use The Aerosol

Prepare and Clean

Prepare and Clean
1
Depending on your damage in most cases with an aerosol we would recommend using a Primer first.

Once you are ready to apply the paint start by flattening down the area using a wet and dry sandpaper to ensure any defects are diminished - we recommend the Norton Topcoat project pack.

The surface must be clean and dry - make sure all wax, polish and grease is removed. For best results use PaintNuts Panel Wipe spray and a Degreasing Cloth then a Sticky Tac Rag to remove any dust..

Shake and Test

Shake and Test
2
Shake aerosol for 2-3 minutes to ensure the paint within the can is mixed.
3
Before applying the paint to the vehicle, we recommend testing the colour and which spray pattern you require, you can adjust the nozzle to spray horizontally or vertically.

On white card - check how many coats you require to match the original colour. Too few coats will look too light, too much paint/ too many coats will make the colour too dark.

Paint and Finish

Paint and Finish
4
Either vertically or horizontally apply in smooth cross coats 250mm distance from the repair.
5
Leave to dry for 15 minutes before applying a second coat if necessary and leave 4 hours before applying PaintNuts lacquer.
6
After use turn the aerosol upside down to empty nozzle valve to clean then it can be reused at a later date.
PLEASE NOTE

Aerosols should not be applied in cold, damp weather – it will adversely affect the application, finish, and drying time.

The recommended minimum temperature for using spray paint is 15+ degrees, preferably room temperature indoors in a warm and well-ventilated area.
