Vauxhall Insignia over the years
Introduced in 2008, the iconic Vauxhall Insignia made a significant but brief splash on the sedan market. Designed to replace the ageing Vectra, the Vauxhall Insignia was more contemporary and up-to-date in terms of technology for the time. Featuring sleeker panels and an interior designed for style and comfort, it would seem that Vauxhall did enough to entice buyers with a fresh new look and design. However, there were other welcome surprises too, like the option to select a 2.8-litre turbocharged V6 engine and Vauxhall paint colours like Power Red, Carbon Flash Black and Olympic White.
Released earlier than expected due to a leak in 2016, the second generation of the Vauxhall Insignia came to market in March 2017. This generation saw further improvements such as safety technology and an exterior design that improved aerodynamics. Buyers also had just as many, if not more, options with the second generation Vauxhall Insignia as the first. Optionality included a 1.5-litre three-cylinder or 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine and Vauxhall paint colours that included Summit White, Mineral Black, Cosmic Grey and Voltaic Blue.
Although retired in 2022, the Vauxhall Insignia is set to make a return, however not in the sedan form we’re so used to seeing it in. With news on its return at some point in 2025, the Vauxhall Insignia will hopefully pick up where it left off, however this time in the form of an SUV.
