PaintNuts Professional Scratch & Scuff Remover uses the latest technology in polishing compounds, specially developed for permanently removing light scratches, scuffs and sanding marks within the first layer of the topcoat paint or lacquer, the compound will also diminish the look of deeper defects.
Safe to use on all paintwork, including metallics and pearlescent paints. The compound is also specially developed to be used in conjunction with PaintNuts colour-matched paints as a final finish to assist in blending the repaired paintwork and diminishing any defects.

If your damage is deep enough to catch your fingernail when you run over the bodywork surface, then you will not be able to remove it completely with just scratch and scuff paste – you would diminish it and then need to use the touch-up pen with colour-matched paint.

The professional quality rust killer has a 2 in 1 applicator containing a high precision pen and fine brush, ideal for precision detailed work such as stone chips and fine scratches.

Directions for use
STEP ONE - PaintNuts Rust Killer 2 in 1 Pen
- Clean surface by removing all loose paint, rust, dirt, grease and salt.
- Rinse with clean water and allow time to dry.
- Shake the pen for 1 minute ensuring the killer is mixed.
- By brush apply direct to rusty area, working well into heavily pitted areas, corners and edges.
- By needle point pen allow the nib to sit in the stone chip and gentle squeeze the pen allowing the killer to flow in to the chip.
- Avoid coating onto painted areas, remove any excess with a clean cloth.
- The rust killer will turn blue/black when reacting with rust, normally within 15 minutes, if it does not change colour in 1 hour re-apply.
- PaintNuts primer can be applied after 2 hours.

- Preparation - The surface must be clean and dry - make sure all wax, polish and dust is removed. If rust is present, we suggest a rust treatment as well.
- Mixing - Shake bottle thoroughly for at least 1 minute to ensure the primer is mixed correctly.
- Application - Using the brush apply thin, light coats in smooth strokes; allow the brush to sit inside the scratch or chip ensuring you only apply the primer within the damaged area. Leave the primer to dry for up to 30 minutes before applying any further coats, if no further coat is required, then leave to cure for 1 full hour before applying the PaintNuts Colour Matched Touch Up Pen.
STEP THREE - PaintNuts Colour Matched Touch Up Bottle
- Preparation - The surface must be clean and dry - make sure all wax, polish and dust is removed.
- Mixing & Colour Check - Shake the bottle for 2-3 Minutes to ensure the paint is thoroughly mixed correctly (if your paint is a Metallic Paint, you may notice the paint has separated within the bottle, this paint will need a vigorous shake, then test in a discreet area to check the colour match leaving the paint to dry for 15 minutes – paints will often appear different in colour inside the bottle, when wet or if applied incorrectly.
- Application - Using the brush apply thin, light coats in smooth strokes; allow the brush to sit inside the scratch or chip ensuring you only apply the primer within the damaged area. Do Not apply new paint on top of existing paint as this will leave the area of repair looking lighter or darker. Leave the colour matched paint to dry for up to 15 mins before applying any further coats, if no further coat is required, then leave to cure for 1 full hour before applying the PaintNuts Clear Lacquer.
STEP FOUR - PaintNuts Clear Lacquer Touch Up Bottle
- Preparation - The surface must be clean and dry - make sure all wax, polish and dust is removed.
- Mixing - Shake bottle thoroughly for at least 1 minute to ensure the lacquer is mixed correctly.
- Application - Using the brush apply thin, light coats in smooth strokes; allow the brush to sit inside the scratch or chip ensuring you only apply the primer within the damaged area. Leave the lacquer to dry for up to 30 minutes before applying a second coat if required, if no further coat is required, you must leave the lacquer to cure for 4 hours before you use any buffing or polishing solution/compound.
STEP FIVE - PaintNuts Professional Scratch & Scuff Remover
- Clean. Clean the vehicle and remove any dirt particles that can cause further defects. If you have used the PaintNuts Rust Converter 2 in 1 Pen, skip this step.
- Application. Apply a small amount of our PaintNuts compound to an applicator pad, apply even pressure in a straight back and forth motion left to right and then up and down untill the scratch or scuff has been removed or reduced.
- Remove & Buff. Buff the area with our PaintNuts Micro Fibre Polishing Cloth to remove the compound residue.
