Prepare the surface - Prepare the surface, ensuring the area is clean and dry. All wax, polish, and dust should be removed. If you are repairing a deep scratch or chip and can see metal/plastic, we recommend using the primer first. -
Apply the Car Paint - Allow the nib of the paint pen to sit in the scratch or chip and squeeze gently. Leave the paint to dry for 10–25 minutes before applying a second coat, if required. Leave the paint to cure for 24 hours until hardened before applying lacquer or polishing.
How to repair a scratch on my MG paintwork?
To repair a surface scratch on your MG you’ll need a polishing compound like PaintNuts Scratch & Scuff Remover and a colour-matched touch-up pen.
Firstly start by cleaning your vehicle, ensuring the scratch is free from dirt and debris, then apply the polishing compound using a microfibre cloth. This should be enough to fix minor scratches.
If you find that the scratch is still visible you may need to apply the touch up paint:
-
Clean the surface
-
Shake the touch-up pen and apply thin layers of paint. Allow each layer to dry for 25 minutes. Let the final layer cure for 24 hours
-
Add lacquer and polish to blend the area with the rest of the paintwork. For detailed instructions, refer to our step-by-step guide.
