Directions for use
STEP ONE - MPEX Fine Finishing Filler
- MIX - Mixing ratio by weight Putty 100 parts Hardener 2 parts Stir thoroughly until achieving homogenous paste. Be careful not to create air inclusions.
- LAYER - Layer thickness Putty can be applied in several thin coats. After each of them the product should dry through.
- SAND - Sand the coating with Norton Top Coat Prepartation Sand Paper Sheets provided before application of next coat. Pot life is 5 - 6 minutes at 20oC Hardening time 18 - 20 minutes at 20°C. Temperature below 20°C significantly increases the hardening time.
STEP TWO - PaintNuts Primer Aerosol
Shake
Shake the aerosol thoroughly for at least two minutes, after the agitator ball is free to ensure the primer is mixed correctly.
Preparation
The surface must be clean and dry - make sure all wax, polish and dust is removed. If rust is present we suggest a rust treatment as well.
Application
Apply in cross coats from a distance of 25cm from the object, ensuring you only apply the primer witin the intended area. Leave the primer to dry for 10-25 minutes before applying a second coat if required. Leave the primer to cure 24 hours before applying the colour matched paint.
STEP THREE - PaintNuts Colour Matched aerosol
- Mixing & Colour Check - Shake the Paint Pen for at least 3 Minutes to ensure the paint is thoroughly mixed correctly (if your paint is a Metallic Paint, you may notice the paint has separated within the bottle, this paint will need a vigourous shake, then test in a discreet area to check the colour match leaving the paint to dry for 10 minutes – paints will often appear different in colour inside the bottle, when wet or if applied incorrectly.
- Preparation - The surface must be clean and dry - make sure all wax, polish and dust is removed.
- Application - Using either the metal nib/pen or brush apply thin, light coats in smooth strokes; if you’re using the needle point pen allow the nib to sit inside the scratch or chip and squeeze gently ensuring you only apply the paint within the damaged area. Do Not apply new paint on top of existing paint as this will leave the area of repair looking lighter or darker. Leave the colour matched paint to dry for upto 30 mins before applying any further coats, if no further coat is required, then leave to cure for 1 full hour before applying the PaintNuts Clear Lacquer.
STEP FOUR - PaintNuts Clear Lacquer Aerosol
The surface must be clean, dry, dust and grease free, minimum application temperature 15 degrees

Perfect product for the job
The PaintNuts touch-up spray paint is perfect for tackling larger bodywork repairs on your vehicle. Follow our recommended steps below to ensure a smooth and effective application.
For deeper damage, especially where bare metal or plastic is exposed, start with a coat of PaintNuts Primer, and use our Rust Converter first if any rust is visible.
How to use the PaintNuts Aerosol
- Mix and check
- Prepare the area
- Apply the products
- Shake to Mix - Shake the aerosol can thoroughly for at least 1 minute to fully mix the primer.
- Prepare the Surface - Clean the area carefully, making sure it's completely dry and free from wax, polish, grease, or dust. If any rust is visible, treat it first with a rust converter.
- Apply the Primer - Hold the can approximately 25cm away from the surface and spray in light cross coats to build up even coverage. Keep the spray within the repair area. Allow each coat to dry for 10-25 minutes. Once finished, let the primer cure for 2 hours before applying colour-matched paint.
- Mixing & Colour Test - Shake the pen for at least 3 minutes to ensure the paint is thoroughly blended—especially for metallic colours that may separate. Test the paint in a hidden area and let it dry for 10 minutes, as colours may look different when wet or applied incorrectly.
- Prep the Area - The surface must be completely clean and dry. Remove all traces of wax, polish, or dust before painting.
- Apply the Paint - Apply thin, smooth coats using the metal nib or fine brush. If using the needlepoint pen, rest the nib in the chip or scratch and gently squeeze to fill only the damaged section. Avoid painting over partially dried layers, as this may lead to a patchy finish. Let each coat dry for up to 30 minutes. After your final coat, allow 1 hour for the paint to cure before moving on to lacquer.
- Shake Before Use - Shake the lacquer pen for at least 1 minute to activate the mixture.
- Surface Preparation - Ensure the area is clean, dry, and free from any wax, polish, or dust.
- Apply the Lacquer - Using the brush or precision nib, apply thin, even coats over the painted area. If using the needlepoint, gently squeeze and guide the lacquer into the repair without overspreading. Let it dry for up to 30 minutes between coats. If a second coat isn't needed, leave the lacquer to cure for at least 4 hours before applying any polish, buffing compound, or finishing product.
Before and After
FAQs
Is it possible to spray paint car scratches?
Yes, as long as you’re using spray paint designed specifically for automotive touch-ups, you can repair scratches on your car’s bodywork. Our PaintNuts colour-matched aerosol cans are filled with specially formulated 1K paint, which doesn’t require hardeners like traditional 2K options and is ready to use straight from the can.
Each spray is custom-mixed to match your vehicle’s exact colour using either your registration number or paint code, so the final finish blends in beautifully. Once applied and cured, the repair becomes almost invisible. Just enter your reg into our easy lookup tool, choose the spray option you need, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Can I get spray paint that matches my car exactly?
Absolutely. Our spray paint is precisely matched to your car’s original colour based on either the reg number or paint code. This means the touch-up will be virtually indistinguishable from the factory finish.
Can I spray over existing car paint?
Yes, you can spray over existing paintwork, as long as it’s in good condition. The surface should be clean, free from rust, and not peeling or flaking. PaintNuts aerosols are designed to work effectively on both new and older paint, giving excellent coverage and adhesion.
To order your aerosol touch-up paint, just enter your car’s registration or paint code on our site, pick the product you want, and we’ll custom mix it for you.
