How to use Ford White touch-up paint? (FAQ)
How do I use a Ford white touch-up paint pen?
For a quick guide on how to use our Ford white touch-up paint pens on car scratches, follow the advice below:
1. Shake the pen for at least 60 seconds to mix the paint.
2. Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free of wax, polish, and dust.
3. Apply thin, light coats with smooth strokes. For needlepoint pens, gently squeeze the paint into the scratch or chip.
4. Let the paint dry for 10-25 minutes before applying a second coat if it needs it.
5. Allow the paint to cure for 24 hours before using a polishing compound like our Scratch & Scuff Remover to blend the repair.
For more in-depth information, we have a complete downloadable guide on how to use our Ford white touch-up paint pen.
How can I blend in a Ford white touch-up pen?
Your Ford white touch-up pen is designed to blend in minor damage like chips and scratches. We mix an exact colour from your registration or paint code. If you have an older car, your original paint may have faded - this is normal, but it does mean the colour of your pen might appear more vibrant. You can blend in the fix by using other products, like PaintNuts Professional Scratch & Scuff Remover, which gives great results.
How long do Ford white car paint pens last?
Our Ford white touch up paint pens are 20ml. How long that lasts depends on the amount of damage that needs repairing. Typically, small, shallow scratches require less car paint than larger damaged areas of bodywork like deep scratches, scuffs and dents.
Can I get Ford white spray paint to match my car?
Our Ford white car spray paint is colour-matched based on your car registration number or paint code. This means you won’t be able to tell the difference between the original manufacturer’s paint and our own.
How do I apply Ford white touch-up paint?
Our Ford white colour-matched paint is available as a touch-up paint pen, bottle and brush or as car spray paint. The form that your Ford white touch-up paint comes in will determine how you apply it.
For the Ford white touch-up pen - First ensure the surface is clean and dry. Shake the pen for 60 seconds and apply thin coats, squeezing the paint into the scratches. Let the paint dry for 10-25 minutes before adding another coat. Allow 24 hours for the pen to cure before polishing.
For the Ford white touch-up bottle & brush - Smooth the surface with sandpaper, then clean it and wipe it dry. If needed, apply primer. Shake the touch-up bottle for 2-3 minutes, test the colour in a small area, and then apply thin coats to the damaged spot. Let the paint dry for 15 minutes between coats and leave it to cure for 1 hour before adding lacquer or polishing.
For the Ford white touch-up spray paint - Smooth the surface, clean it thoroughly, and shake the aerosol for 2-3 minutes. Test the colour and spray pattern. If you’re happy with the colour, apply the aerosol paint in smooth, cross-coats from 250mm away. Let it dry for 15 minutes before a second coat. If you’re applying lacquer, wait 24 hours before applying. Clean the nozzle after use by spraying it upside-down.
